Break Time

Every once in a while you have to step back from what it is you do every day, or every week, or sporadically, and reexamine the reasons behind it.  Are you making the best decisions for yourself, your health and mental well-being, your family, your future?  What can you improve?  What do you need more of?  Less of?  Where is your energy going and where should it be?  Are you happy?  Are you at your best?  What are your outlets for achieving or releasing positivity, energy, balance?  And, if upon asking these things of yourself, you find that your answers are skewed or simply not what you aim for, then it’s time to reevaluate.

For the past six years, I’ve poured my heart, soul, physical and mental strength, money and time, into this business.  I’ve ventured into graphic design and personal art, taken on side jobs to supplement and support my passion, with the ultimate goal of contributing to my family and finances.  Recently I’ve stumbled upon opportunities on completely different paths that I’ve come to realize are very worthy of my time and attention.  There’s only so much time to go around though.  There’s only so much of me to go around.

I love my clients.  I have made so many friends, connections, and bonds with people who started out as strangers.  To you all: I am still here.  To those with whom have already booked; of course, I will still be there and give you my all.  It is time however, that I set my camera down and take a good hard look at life, and the crossroads I find myself contemplating.  This is not the end of Jenelle Sellers Photography, just a pause.

I am booking sessions of any type through November 1st, 2017.  This means that if you want to book a December session, do so before November 1st.  If you are getting married next June and want to book, please contact me prior to November 1st.  If you have already booked a session post November 1st, 2017, I am of course still your gal!

Payment is required in full to reserve your date.  I accept cash, check or Venmo.  The exception to that is weddings; please email me for information on how to reserve your date.
Please email me with any questions at jenellesellersphotography@gmail.com

Thank you again for all of your support the past six years and in my new ventures.  I’ll be back, better than ever!

Casey Girl

So I've decided I need a new category list for session types, something along the lines of "Just Because" or "Why Not?" or "I Haven't Had My Photo Taken Since Grade School, So Yeah..." or "You Know What, Ima Just Do My Thang".  I can't decide.  Casey's session would sort of fall into all of these and then some.  We met through mutual business associates (remember the Rusty Pearl ladies shoot?) and I designed a logo and business card for her (CaseyGirl Designs).  She also needed/wanted updated photos for business purposes but I came to find out that this session was much more than that.  For so many women, including myself, body confidence and self love is a daily struggle.  Casey wanted to seize the opportunity to celebrate herself, of feeling at peace in many ways, and truly allow herself to be pampered with hair and makeup and then to just, go feel pretty (inside and out!).  Her attitude and spunk just radiates and I did my best to capture the gorgeous, good humored lady she is.  I hope you enjoy the preview of our session; I was so excited to take these photos for Casey.

So First, the graphic design work:

And now enjoy the beautiful Casey!

And then this glorious photo bomb:

The Rusty Pearl Ladies

The ladies of The Rusty Pearl, LLC reached out to me for a business logo design which led to a business card design which led to a fun evening photo shoot!  These two amazing women are best friends who started a business doing something they both love, are passionate about, and are so super awesome at!  They breathe life into old vintage items and what they create is truly magical.  I had a custom desk made by them which I loved so much I asked for a matching side table!  Both just shine in this office of mine :)  As a businesswoman myself, I loved having the opportunity to support The Rusty Pearl in a number of ways.  Congratulations Sarah and Kari, I can't wait for everything that is to come!  PS. Go check out all their amazing creations here: http://www.therustypearl.com/

How long will my photos take?

Hello everyone!  I just wanted to take a moment to address a very commonly asked question and one that the answer to has changed over the course of the last three years for me.  It's my biggest stress inducer right now (at the height of wedding season) and I think worth a blog post.  :)

When I first started my photography journey I was not doing weddings.  Holy scary responsibility!  Once I had a chance to dive in though, I was head over heels in love.  My first wedding season I did, I think, four or five weddings.  I was doing other portrait sessions mainly but overall was not "busy" by any means.  For me to complete a session's photos, fully edited, on disc, and in a client's hands within two weeks was a piece of cake.  Going into this year (my busiest yet so far-THANK YOU!!) I had no idea what having three or four weddings in one month as opposed to one every other month, on top of all the other portrait sessions, would do to my time management anticipation and abilities.

I can not thank each and every one of my clients, both portrait and design, enough for your trust in me, your support and generosity, everything.  I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart, it's overwhelming.  To my wedding clients, past, present, and future, you are helping shape me and such a large part of my business and it is a HONOR to be a part of your special days.

My techniques have improved, my clientele has expanded, my passion for this work grows with every wedding and portrait session I do.  That being said, I have come to realize that whipping out a full wedding CD in two to three weeks is completely unfeasible.  I want my best work to go out to each and every one of my clients and I refuse to compromise quality in favor of quickness.  I know what the wait for photos is like, it's torture!  That's why I work to put up blog posts quickly with previews to tide you over haha.  But...please please bear with me as I am working diligently on your photos and truly pour myself into this work.  I am also learning to balance this with motherhood and being a wife.  I know many women have that all figured out amazingly but I'm not there yet!  I work before the baby wakes up, when and if she naps, and well into the night after bedtime.  I'm doing my best I promise and I am so excited when I finish and send out your photo CD.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, your support, and did I mention patience?  ;)  So in answer to that all important question, a wedding CD will take between four and six weeks from the date of your event to be completed.  All other sessions can be anticipated within three weeks.

Thank you again everyone :)

Spring is in the air (and blog)!

Maybe it was the smell of rain coming through my window this weekend or the sound of twitterpated birds in the front tree, but Spring is finding its way into my bones.  For me, Spring brings an overwhelming need to freshen, update and clean everything in sight.  This year I'm cleaning and freshening my home as always but for a different purpose than usual.  We are in the process of selling it and moving into a new one!  I am looking forward to getting settled for many reasons but I'm extra excited to be actually in town now and closer to clients and areas for portrait sessions.  I've got a few new places I'm looking forward to trying for sessions now that we'll be closer!

All of this was on my mind this weekend as I was cleaning and packing the house when I decided I needed a break and wanted to do something really fun.  Because let's face it, as mind numbing exciting as packing is, I had something else that needed attention: my blog!  It's hard to believe I started this blog over a year ago just to have somewhere to post a few pictures from time to time.  I had no idea my summer and fall would be full of senior portrait sessions, family photos, new babies and moms to be.  What a wonderful way to have started my journey!  I've since learned how to custom design my blog and logo and am working on new business cards too.  I hope you like the new look!

Oh and along those lines, I've also been trying my hand at designing other items such as custom invitations and announcements, etc.  I hope to get some samples of those up soon.  I'd like to eventually offer completely unique and custom designs for my portrait client's needs and to establish clients for solely design purposes as well.

Thank you all for you support this past year.  I look forward to what this season of change has in store for Jenelle Sellers Photography!
